The articles published in the well-known magazine, “The Seventh Day”, derive their significance from the fact that they were written by poet Mahmoud Darwish, even though they were not largely publicized. If this fact alone constitutes enough justification for republishing these articles, it does not offer justice to the many significant dimensions of them. Aside from the captivating artistic style, and the timeless beauty of the language, these articles offer a testimony on the highly sensitive period in the history of Palestinians, and on Darwish's political, poetic and living concerns. Several elements contributed to Darwish's legacy as a uniquely talented voice of his people.
